Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation

Keeping the Blues Alive® Foundation (KTBA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by five-time GRAMMY nominated blues-rock artist Joe Bonamassa. Our mission is to fuel a passion for music in younger generations by funding projects that provide students and teachers with the resources and tools needed to further music education. 

Since its inception in 2011, KTBA has funded more than 850 music projects and extracurricular initiatives, impacting the lives of more than 147,000 students across the country. Through weekly donations to school music programs, KTBA provides access to essential resources such as instruments, sheet music, and other educational tools. In 2020, KTBA launched the Fueling Musicians Program to provide financial relief to touring musicians impacted by the pandemic. Now a permanent part of KTBA’s mission, the program supports touring musicians, educators, and industry professionals facing financial hardship with essential living expenses such as food and shelter. To date, KTBA has provided more than 475 recipients with immediate $1,500 cash grants.

With more than $3 million raised through fundraisers, merchandise sales, and our generous donors, the Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation has helped keep music education thriving!

Each year, this Blues Alive at Sea sailing celebrates blues music and community while raising funds to support emerging talent and preserve the genre. Our Alaskan Adventure will continue that tradition with even more unique experiences to come. Stay tuned for more details!
